The Isle of Anglesey (Ynys Môn in Welsh) is located off the northwest coast of Wales near the spectacular Snowdonia mountain range. It hugs the coastline and boasts over 100 miles of spectacular coastline and beaches. It’s been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Anglesey is a fantastically diverse location. As well as being steeped in a rich archaeological and historical heritage, it also has an unparalleled variety of wildlife habitats; from the massive sea cliffs, lagoons and dunes on the coast to the lakes, wetlands, heaths and lush farmland of the interior.

The beaches here are an absolute must see; they’re truly stunning. The variety is immense. You can head off to the unspoilt, seemingly endless sandy beaches of Llanddwyn Bay, visit the busy seafront at Benlech, or if it’s peace and quiet you’re after, go to Cemaes Bay.

The two main towns in the region are Beaumaris and Holyhead. The town of Beaumaris is home to numerous castles and mansions of great historic importance. This is where you’ll find one of the castles built by Edward I after his defeat of the Welsh princes, and the historic mansion Henllys Hall.

From Holyhead, it’s just a short boat trip over to the Emerald Isle (Ireland). Holyhead is the main the main ferry port for boats crossing the Irish Sea from Wales to Ireland’s buzzing capital city - Dublin. The Fast ferry only takes 45 minuetes each way. It’s perfect for a day trip and has become very popular over the past few years.
