This is definitely the best mountain biking location in the UK and probably the world. The IMBA (International Mountain Biking Association) have claimed that Wales offers the “best new trail in the world…something for every rider”.
Check out the towns of Llanwrtyd Wells and Machynlleth. They both have some excellent purpose built routes. Or if you want something more challenging, head off into the backcountry - places like Mid Wales and Snowdonia have miles and miles of seemingly endless trails to discover. In recent years Wales’s world class mountain bike trails have become very popular and extremely well respected. Former UK downhill champ Rob Warner has described them as “As good, if not better than the Alps'. They’re “Mountain bike Nirvana” according to comparable to MBR magazine.
You can go mountain biking in Wales all year round. Most of the trails are designed to be weatherproof, meaning they’re not affected by bad weather. Within reason of course, heavy snowfall will make cycling on any trail almost impossible.
If you go for lessons with one of the many tour operators, it will costy you from around £65 per day or around £140 for a weekend with accommodation. You’ll be given state of the art equipment (bike, helmet, etc) and taught the basics of off-road riding on trails graded to match your ability.
